COMPLETING YOUR
ESTIMATE SHEET
This estimate sheet is almost the same as we use for quoting removals,
the use of the small medium & large tick boxes is enough information for
us to quantify your goods. So measuring your goods & furniture will
not be required. This will save you a lot of time.
The sheet lists furniture items room by room, a single A4 sheet is
sufficient to list up to a 6 bedroom house. An additional sheet is also
available for houses with more rooms.
The Greyed areas on the sheet are for you the customer to fill in.
Please leave the areas in white for our calculations. There are blank
spaces in each section for other items not listed.
You’ll mostly only need to tick boxes, but there maybe items not listed
on the sheet that you wish to add. If there’s any information you feel
cannot be given on the estimate sheet, please use the additional
information sheet, or contact us if you are having any difficulties,
either by e-mail or phone.
The most difficult thing to calculate is the amount of cartons you will
need to pack all your belongings. From experience this is always the
most underestimated factor. Generally we know on average, how many
cartons are required according to the size of the property, and the
occupancy. Listed below are some reasons why your packing carton
requirements could be above average.
Young Children; at least 8 large cartons per child
Teenage children; at least 10 cartons per teenager
Other adults living in property 10 cartons
Hobbyists & collectors, if you or a member of your family have certain
hobbies, this could dramatically increase your packing requirements, and
needs to be taken in to account.
If you have lots of books in the property we need to know, as books are
heavy, they can have a bearing on the vehicle weight limit. Generally to
calculate the amount of book boxes required. Measure the shelf length of
all your books.
Example; 3 bookcases 2 f/t wide with 4 shelves per bookcase = 8 F/t of
shelves per bookcase totalling 24 f/t for all 3
On average for each for each 2 f/t of bookshelf 1 book size carton will
be required. In this case 12 cartons should suffice.
Of course if all your books were paperbacks, then more than this amount
could be fitted in to a book carton. However this is an average,
accounting for all common sized books.
We have been using this system for 5 years, and it has proved 99%
effective. The only time problems occur, are if all items to be moved
are not listed. Sometimes this happens when the customer believes they
will sell or dispose of items before their removal. Or items will be
taken by family members, but ultimately not. Normally the odd couple of
items this will not matter, but if this happens with several items
especially large items, this could mean that the vehicle sent to remove
your goods is not sufficient. It is essential that all main furniture
items to be moved are listed.
We also need to know the access to each property. If your property
requires a larger lorry. How close can it get to your front door?
Generally if the access to your property is described as Good.
Then the back of the lorry should be within 25 casual paces from your
front door. Fair access 24 to 40 paces. Poor access over
40 paces.
Also take in to account any steps, or steep driveways.
If your property is a flat, we need to know how many flights of stairs,
ultimately how many steps, in addition the distance from the main
entrance to the block of flats to the nearest point a removal vehicle
can get.
Basically the more accurate the information we receive, the more
efficient will be your removal.
On receiving your completed estimate sheet, we will contact you if we
feel any more information is required.
Remember we are quoting you on the basis of the information we receive
from you. If any relevant information is omitted, additional costs could
be incurred, if the removal takes longer than anticipated, or additional
vehicles are required due to lack of information.
